This picture actually really gets to me. The fact that her sign says I won’t and is crossed out to say I can’t is so powerful. The “I won’t” could be how society views it. Defiant, problem causing, attention seeking. But the “I can’t” is how it really is. I couldn’t even tell all of you the number of times I have wanted to eat the food in front of me and I sit there staring at it wanting to pick it up but my arm doesn’t move. I cannot physically pick it up. I just sit and stare at it. I get frustrated and start crying and the couple times I’m able to pick up whatever it is,my hand just start shaking and I cry even harder making it near impossible to eat. I really is a “I can’t” thing vs an “I won’t”.
